Seven Busted in Sears Tower Bomb Plot

Friday, seven men were arrested in Miami for plotting to blow up many government buildings in that city as well as planning an attack on the Sears Tower in Chicago. They had no weapons nor explosives when arrested. They did not come from Afghanistan, Iraq or Saudi Arabia. They call themselves the “Seas of David,” and the Council on American-Islamic Relations denies they are Muslims. In short, they aren’t the kind of guys about whom Uncle Sam has the nation worried.

Attorney-General Alberto Gonzales smiled for the cameras saying the FBI had infiltrated this “homegrown terrorism cell” and that the agency had foiled a mission planned to be “just as good or greater” than the September 11, 2001 attacks on Washington and New York. He added, however, “There was no immediate threat,” while Deputy FBI Director John Pistole described the plan as “aspirational rather than operational.”

Of the seven men, five are Americans and two are Haitian, one of the latter in the US illegally. While this may spur the nativists to tighten up the border and prosecute those who have overstayed their visas, the real message here is the majority of them are native-born citizens of the US of A – like Timothy McVeigh. Just as the London bombers of July 7, and the bumblers of July 21, were British, America has more to fear from its own underclass than from foreign attackers.

That is not to diminish the threat Fascislam poses to the Republic, but rather one must acknowledge that it is easier for American terrorists to hide in America than it is for Pakistani, Arab or Indonesian terrorists to do so. Chairman Mao said the guerrilla must swim among the people like a fish in the ocean. Guy dressed like Mullah Omar and Usama bin Laden standout more in Liberty City, Miami than guys dressed in T-shirts and beach shorts.

R. Alexander Acosta, US Attorney for the Southern District of Florida told Reuters, “These are precisely the types of groups that we should be dismantling and disrupting and we are going to continue to aggressively pursue any cell that expresses an intent to commit terrorist acts against the United States,” and if the charges are proved in court, Amen to that. These are wannabes who couldn’t even get weapons without tipping off the authorities. But where are the sleeper cells of Al Qaeda? Could it be they don’t exist? After almost 5 years, they have done nothing on US soil. It’s the homegrown yahoos that pose the threat.
