Lott Quits, Not Soon Enough
There was a saying in Washington a few years ago that if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, the thing in question is a duck. Rangel's Draft: Unwise, Unworkable, Un-American
Congressman Charles Rangel (D-New York) has come up with a likely finalist in the most unappealing poltical idea of 2003 -- reinstatement of the draft. Rangel, a hero of the Korean War, argues that the armed forces of the USA are too poor and too brown. Rich white kids ought to be able to die for their country too. Rangel has identified a genuine problem, but he has come up with a solution that may worsen the situation. Click here for more.

But Is There a Doctor in the House?
Senator Bill Frist (R-Tennessee) is the new majority leader of the upper house, but he is also a surgeon. He made the news over the New Year holiday by coming to the aid of several injured people whose SUV tipped over. Saving the lives of potential voters is always good politics, but if the GOP and the Dems are paying attention, they might realize that nominating and electing non-lawyers is the way to go.Click here to find out why.
