Congratulations, Messrs. Rumsfeld and Cheney
It has been a long time in coming, but Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld and Vice President Dick Cheney finally have their war against Saddam. Nothing could stop their determination, and their success is a tribute to their political skills. Twelve years is a long time to push a policy, but finally, they made it happen. Pentagon's Embedded Journalists Solve PR Problem
It has taken 60 years to come full circle, but the Pentagon has finally decided to return to the days of Ernie Pyle, the gold standard of war correspondents, and simply let the reporters live with the troops. By "embedding" journalists with various front-line units, the Defense Department has solved its PR problems by making the reports part of the war-making machine.
