Obesity Yields Stupidity; Americans Fattest on Earth
A recent study has shown a most unfortunate link between obesity and a lowered intelligence among men. What is particularly sad is the fact that Americans recently won the title of most over-weight nation on the planet. The syllogism that flows from that is hardly a vote of confidence in the world's greatest democracy.
It seems that the extra flab around the middle that most men develop can cause problems with blood flow to the brain and other difficulties associated with cortex functions. Women's fat settles elsewhere, and researchers could not make a link between it and brain function (especially if they didn't want to sleep on the couch).
Naturally, this will lead to countless alternative medicine scoundrels flogging some root extract to enhance brain function while losing weight. The way to survive these marketing ploys is to ask them how that ephedra stuff is working out. If that fails, compare the number of Nobel prizes won by Americans to Ethiopian and Bangladeshi scholars. This too shall pass.
Still, it is uncomfortable to have everyone on the planet look at the successors to Jefferson, Lincoln, and King while thinking, "Geez, these fat, dumb guys have too many bombs."
