Kerry Wins Big in Virginia and Tennessee
The mistaken belief that the south is the key to the White House was not shattered by last Tuesday's primaries in Virginia and Tennessee, but the false premise that "Johnny Reb won't vote for no damnyankee" certainly was. Senator John Kerry of Massachusetts had a healthy plurality in Tennessee, and in Virginia, he garnered an outright majority. AFSCME Pulls Support from Dean
Governor Howard Dean has run an appalling campaign since December, and it comes as little surprise that one of the largest unions in the US, American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, “has ended its activities on behalf of the Dean campaign and is shifting its resources to the general election.” While Governor Dean is badly hurt by this act, organized labor in the US is proving itself almost useless in presidential politics. Yellowstone Snowmobile Rules Change, Pointlessly
One of the reasons that people in the western US dislike the federal government is the inability of the feds to understand just how empty most of the far west is. It's hard to tell where the national park begins in Yellowstone, and where the rest of the nation ends. So, when a judge increased the number of snowmobiles that can enter Yellowstone National Park to 780 daily from 493, the local response was,"So what?" Click here to read on.
