Israeli Authorities Arrest Homegrown Nazis

Israeli authorities arrested half a dozen young men over the week-end for beating people up and damaging property. This kind of thing happens in every country in the world and is hardly noteworthy. What makes this case different is the ideology of the accused. These clowns are proud enough of being Nazis that they have tattooed swastikas on themselves, idiots who would have been turned to ash at Auschwitz if Hitler had won.

The cell, for want of a better word, appears to be entire of Russian origin, children of those would managed to leave the old Soviet Union. Under Israel’s Law of Return, anyone who has a Jewish grandparent can be automatically an Israeli citizen. Ironically, this is the Nuremberg Law as used by the Nazis in Germany to decide who went into the ovens. The founders of the State of Israel quite sensibly decided that if that was the standard by which people would be killed, it should also be the standard by which they are given sanctuary.

Public Security Minister Avi Dichter said, “Israeli society must ask not only where these youths made a mistake, but also where we made a mistake in absorbing them and in their education.” That’s enough to set the teeth of a great many law-and-orders types on edge, but it remains so. . Eli Buanitov, the 19-year-old ringleader, said as he was arrested, “I won’t ever give up, I was a Nazi and I will stay a Nazi, until we kill them all. I will not rest.” Teenage rebellion that twisted is a sign of something else

Mr. Buanitov’s mother excused, “My son is a charity case. He has nothing against the state. He finished junior high and stopped attending school after Arabs stabbed him and the police did nothing about it.” If so, part of the problem was the education wasn’t finished. If the police did nothing if he were, indeed, stabbed, there’s another part of the puzzle missing. And if he really is a charity case, perhaps some psychological help is needed.
